Azerbaijani Language
- Linguistic Classification Azerbaijani, also known as Azeri, is a member of the West Oghuz group of the southwestern (Oghuz) branch of the Turkic languages.  
- Number of Speakers Estimates suggest that Azerbaijani is spoken by approximately 25 to 35 million people worldwide.  
- Official Status It is the official language of Azerbaijan, where about 82% of the population speaks Azerbaijani as their first language.  
- Dialects There are two main varieties: North Azerbaijani, spoken primarily in Azerbaijan, and South Azerbaijani, spoken mainly in Iran.
